When to hike

Seasonal conditions in Cyprus.

Spring
March to May is the ideal hiking season. Wildflowers bloom across hillsides, temperatures are mild (15-25°C), streams run with water, and the landscape is brilliantly green. Best time for Akamas Peninsula trails with endemic flowers.
Summer
June through August is hot (35-40°C at low altitudes) but the Troodos Mountains offer refreshing alternatives at 1,000-1,900m altitude with temperatures 10-15°C cooler. Start all trails before 8 AM to avoid midday heat.
Fall
September and October offer excellent conditions with cooler temperatures, harvest landscapes, and changing leaf colors in the Troodos. Golden oaks turn yellow and the vineyards provide colorful backdrops.
Winter
November through February sees occasional snow on the Troodos peaks above 1,500m, creating unique hiking opportunities and the chance of skiing on Mount Olympos. Lower altitude trails remain accessible year-round.
