Day trip tips
Make the most of your excursions.
Book Saaremaa ferry in advance, especially for cars in summer — Praamid (Tallink) ferries sell out weeks ahead in July-August.
For Lahemaa, hiring a car gives far more flexibility than bus tours — you can visit Viru Bog, Palmse Manor, Altja, and Käsmu all in one day.
The Lux Express bus to Tartu and Pärnu has WiFi and toilets — book online for 30-50% cheaper fares than buying at the station.
Start day trips early to avoid crowds at popular sites and to allow time to return comfortably before dinner.
