Bonifacio Cliff Citadel and Sea Caves
Bonifacio's Haute Ville sits on a limestone spur that has been carved into vertical cliffs by the sea, with the old town's buildings running right to the edge. The main draw is walking the citadel ramparts and then dropping down to the harbour to take a boat past the white cliffs and into the sea caves cut into the rock, including the Grain de Sable formation. It works well as a full day: a couple of hours on foot in the old town, then a boat trip in the afternoon.

Gorges de la Restonica and Lac de Melo from Corte
The Restonica gorge runs up from Corte into the mountains, a river-cut valley of granite boulders and pools that climbs toward Lac de Melo, a glacial lake reached on foot. It's a nature and hiking day rather than a sightseeing one - the appeal is the drive up the narrow gorge road followed by a walk into the high mountains, something Corsica does differently from its coast.

Scandola Nature Reserve and Porto Gulf Boat Tour
Scandola is a nature reserve on a volcanic peninsula that can only be seen by boat, since there's no road access - this is what makes it one of Corsica's defining day trips. Boats out of Porto run along the red volcanic cliffs of the Gulf of Porto, past the Calanques de Piana, and into the reserve itself, where the rock formations and clear water are the whole point of the trip.

Cap Corse Circuit
Cap Corse is the narrow peninsula pointing north from Bastia, and this is a driving day rather than a single-site visit - a loop around the coast road taking in fishing villages, watchtowers, and a markedly different landscape on each side of the cape. The west coast is steeper and more dramatic, the east side gentler, and the circuit is usually done as a full loop back to Bastia.

Sardinia Day Trip from Bonifacio

It works as a day trip largely because the crossing is under an hour, but it means spending most of the day either on the water or in and around one town, not touring inland Sardinia.
