- April-May: Wildflowers carpet mountain meadows, waterfalls at full flow from snowmelt. Lower altitude trails excellent; high passes still snowbound
- Summer
- June-August: Peak hiking season when all trails are open. Best for Tusheti (July-September only). Hot at lower elevations; cool and clear in mountains
- Fall
- September-October: Excellent hiking with cooler temperatures, autumn foliage, and harvest festivals in wine regions. Tusheti road closes in October
- Winter
- November-March: Most mountain trails inaccessible due to snow. Ski resorts at Gudauri and Bakuriani operate. Low-altitude walks in Tbilisi and wine regions possible
