Don't
- Do not enter mosques during Friday midday prayer (12:00–13:30) unless invited
- Do not photograph military installations, especially near the Evros border
- Do not raise political topics about the Greek-Turkish relationship with people you just met
- Do not assume all Komotini residents are Greek Orthodox – the Muslim community is significant
- Do not leave food on your plate in a village home; it can be seen as criticism of the host's hospitality
