- Dress modestly when entering churches and monasteries — shoulders and knees must be covered
- Greet locals with kalimera (morning) or kalispera (afternoon/evening) — it is appreciated
- Participate in the tsipouro culture in Volos — sit, stay, let the meze come to you
- Accept a glass of tsipouro or coffee if offered by a local — refusing can cause offence

- Do not photograph inside monastery chapels unless a sign explicitly permits it

- Do not litter in nature areas — Pelion hiking trails and beaches rely on visitor respect
- Do not take stones or archaeological fragments from ancient sites
