Iles de Los (Islands)
A small archipelago just offshore from Conakry, reached by pirogue from Boulbinet Port. The islands were a British possession (the Loos Islands) until they were ceded to France in 1904, and before that were used in the transatlantic slave trade, which gives the ruined buildings on some islands a real historical weight rather than just beach scenery. The two most visited islands, Kassa and Room, offer sand beaches and quiet away from Conakry's traffic and noise.

Coyah

Fouta Djallon Highlands (Dalaba)
A cool, hilly plateau region that was used by the French colonial administration as a hill station, and Dalaba still has colonial-era villas and a noticeably cooler climate than Conakry, which is much of the appeal after the heat of the coast. The wider Fouta Djallon around Labe and Pita is known for waterfalls and hiking trails through highland scenery, though a single day trip from Conakry only allows time to properly cover the immediate Dalaba area given the 5-6 hour drive each way.
