Day trip tips
Make the most of your excursions.
Start Bartica trips early — take the 7-8AM minibus to Parika to catch morning speedboats and have maximum time at the three-river confluence and Sunday market
For Kaieteur Falls, book the earliest available flight departure (typically 6-7AM) for the best morning light and mist rainbows at the falls viewpoint
Combine Fort Zeelandia with the Essequibo River ferry crossing — the river journey across Guyana's widest river is itself memorable wildlife spotting
Carry cash for all day trips — most coastal towns have limited or no ATM access, and minibus fares and boat transfers are cash only
