Day trip tips
Make the most of your excursions.
Plan Shabbat (Friday afternoon to Saturday night) carefully - most public transport stops and many attractions have reduced hours; rent a car or book an organized tour for Saturday
The Dead Sea and Masada are often combined in one day trip but the summer heat is extreme - start by 6 AM from Jerusalem and leave by 2 PM
Petra from Eilat is a genuine day trip but an overnight stay is strongly recommended to appreciate the site fully and reduce exhaustion
The Galilee region (Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, Golan Heights) deserves 2 days minimum - rushing it as a day trip from Tel Aviv is possible but not ideal
