Kuwait is a modern Gulf state blending traditional Arabian culture with contemporary architecture and bustling souqs. From the iconic Kuwait Towers to the vast expanse of its golden deserts, this small nation offers rich history, world-class museums, and authentic Middle Eastern hospitality.
Kuwait has a hot desert climate (Köppen BWh) with extremely hot summers and mild winters. Summer temperatures from June to September regularly exceed 45°C (113°F) and can reach 50°C in the interior — among the highest temperatures recorded on Earth. Winter from November to March is genuinely pleasant with temperatures of 10-25°C ideal for outdoor activities. Rainfall is scarce (average 110mm annually) and falls almost entirely between November and March. The Arabian Gulf moderates coastal temperatures slightly but also increases humidity in summer.

The seasons
What to expect in each part of the year.
Spring
Months: Mar-Apr
Brief and beautiful — temperatures warm rapidly from pleasant 20°C in March to uncomfortable 30°C+ by late April. Desert wildflowers briefly bloom after winter rains. The window from late February to mid-April offers Kuwait's most colorful and active outdoor season.
Summer
Months: May-Sep
Extremely hot and largely inhospitable for outdoor activity. Temperatures exceed 45°C daily from June to August with humidity added near the coast. Kuwait City essentially moves indoors — malls become the primary social space. Dramatic heat haze and occasional haboob (sandstorm) events characterize this season.
Fall
Months: Oct-Nov
A welcome transition as summer heat breaks gradually. October remains warm (30-38°C) but November brings genuinely comfortable days. Birdwatching peaks as migratory species arrive at Al Jahra. Camel racing season begins in October.
Winter
Months: Dec-Feb
Kuwait's best season — mild, sunny, and occasionally rainy. Temperatures average 12-20°C with cool nights sometimes dropping to 6-8°C. This is when all of Kuwait comes outdoors: beach visits, parks, desert camping, and outdoor dining are at their peak. February's Hala Festival brings concerts, fireworks, and citywide celebrations.
