KL has an excellent integrated metro network (LRT, MRT, Monorail) plus free GO KL city buses. Penang has Rapid Penang buses. Peninsular Malaysia connected by KTM rail and frequent express buses.
Taxi
Grab (ride-hailing) is dominant and very reliable with fixed upfront pricing. Traditional taxis available but always insist on meter use.
Rental
Car rental worthwhile for Cameron Highlands, east coast islands, and Borneo. International license required. Tolled highways make driving efficient.
Walking
KL's KLCC and Bukit Bintang connected by elevated walkways. Georgetown Penang very walkable. Tropical heat discourages walking midday.
