Oman has a hot desert climate with extreme summer heat from June to September when coastal temperatures exceed 40°C with high humidity. The cooler season from November to March is the prime travel period with pleasant 20-28°C days. Salalah in the south is unique, receiving Indian Ocean monsoon rains July-September (Khareef season) transforming the landscape to misty green.

Spring
Months: Mar-May
Warming temperatures 25-35°C, spring wildflowers on Jebel Akhdar, rose harvest in April. Still pleasant for sightseeing in early spring but increasingly hot by May.
Summer
Months: Jun-Sep
Extremely hot and humid on the coast (38-45°C), dangerously hot for outdoor activities June-August. Salalah transforms with Khareef monsoon to misty green paradise. Mountain areas above 2,000m more bearable.
Fall
Months: Oct-Nov
Temperatures dropping rapidly to 28-35°C in October, ideal for wadis, hiking, and desert exploration. One of the best times to visit with excellent conditions and fewer crowds than winter peak.
Winter
Months: Dec-Feb
Oman's peak tourist season with comfortable temperatures 20-28°C on coast, cooler 10-18°C in mountains. Perfect for all outdoor activities. Jebel Shams can see frost at night.

Islamic holy month of fasting. Restaurants closed during daylight, special evening iftar meals, night markets, spiritual atmosphere. Non-Muslims should not eat/drink in public during daylight.
Eid Al Fitr
Three-day celebration marking end of Ramadan. Family gatherings, gift-giving, special foods, fireworks. Many businesses closed, festive atmosphere.
National Day
Celebrates Oman's independence with parades, fireworks, concerts, and cultural events. Buildings illuminated in national colors. Two-day public holiday.
Oman Desert Marathon
Ultra-marathon through Wahiba Sands desert. International runners compete in 6-day, 165km race. Support events and festival atmosphere.
Nizwa Goat Market
Weekly traditional livestock auction dating back centuries. Goats, cattle, and sheep traded. Authentic cultural experience, starts very early (6am).
Royal Opera House Season
International opera, ballet, classical music, and theater performances. World-class acts in stunning venue. Dress code enforced.
Turtle Nesting Season
Endangered green turtles nest at Ras Al Jinz. Guided night tours to witness nesting and hatching. Advance booking essential.
Rose Harvest Festival
