July-August for swimming (water temperature 15-18°C at lower lakes). Lakes accessible May to October for shore visits and photography.

Getting there

All lakes require vehicle transport from Dushanbe. Iskanderkul: 3-4 hours. Seven Lakes: 5-6 hours via Penjikent. Karakul: on the Pamir Highway, 2-3 days from Dushanbe.

On-beach facilities

Only Iskanderkul has nearby guesthouses and basic facilities. All other lakes require self-sufficiency.
