Hakkâri is a remote, breathtakingly scenic province in southeastern Turkey, bordering Iraq and Iran. Cold nights above 2,500 m drain batteries rapidly — carry 2–3 spare batteries and keep them warm in a jacket pocket.
Always ask permission before photographing individuals, especially women. The Kurdish phrase 'Ez dikare wêneyê te bikim?' (May I photograph you?) opens doors.
Avoid photographing military installations, checkpoints, or uniformed personnel — this is prohibited and may lead to detention.
