Sakarya is a northwestern Turkish province straddling forested hills, the valley of the Sakarya River, and the pristine shores of Sapanca Lake. Just 150 km east of Istanbul, it blends industrial energy with remarkable natural scenery, Ottoman heritage, and Battle of Sakarya battlefield sites that shaped modern Turkey.
Sakarya has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa) influenced by proximity to both the Marmara Sea and the Black Sea. Summers are warm and humid; winters are cool to cold with regular rainfall and occasional snowfall in elevated areas. The province receives significant year-round precipitation, with wettest months in autumn and early winter.
