Sivas is a historic city in Central Anatolia, Turkey, renowned for its magnificent Seljuk-era architecture and its pivotal role in Turkish national history. Home to the Sivas Congress of 1919 — a critical event in the founding of the Turkish Republic — the city preserves some of the finest medieval Islamic monuments in Anatolia. The Buruciye, Çifte Minareli, Gök, and Şifaiye madrasas cluster in the city centre, while Divriği's UNESCO-listed Great Mosque lies within the province. Sivas is well-connected by high-speed rail (YHT) to Ankara and onward to the national network, intercity buses to all major Turkish cities, and Nuri Demirag Airport (VAS) with domestic flights. Within the city, municipal buses and shared dolmuş minibuses cover all main areas affordably. Taxis are metered and widely available. The compact historic centre is entirely walkable.

The intercity bus terminal (Otogar) is on the city ring road — city bus No. 1 or a taxi (~60–80 TRY/~$1.80–$2.40) connects to the centre
Kangal (95 km) is best reached by dolmuş from the Otogar terminal (~80–100 TRY/~$2.40–$3 each way)
For Divriği (190 km), take the 08:00 bus from Otogar — the return service departs Divriği at ~17:00; confirm times at the terminal the day before
