Yalova is a compact province on the southern shore of the Marmara Sea, roughly 90 minutes from Istanbul by fast ferry. Famous throughout Turkey for its therapeutic thermal springs centred on the spa resort of Termal, the city blends Ottoman-era pavilions, lush forests, long Black-Sea-adjacent beaches along the Armutlu peninsula, and a relaxed waterfront promenade. Its small size and excellent ferry connections make it an ideal weekend escape as well as a slower-paced base for exploring Bursa and the wider Marmara region.
Yalova is almost exclusively reached by sea. IDO fast ferries from Istanbul's Yenikapı terminal run roughly every 90 minutes and take 65 minutes, making Yalova one of Turkey's most accessible coastal destinations. A slower car ferry from Topçular (Istanbul) runs several times daily. Within the province, dolmuş shared taxis are the backbone of local travel, connecting the city to Termal, Çınarcık, and Armutlu. City buses cover central Yalova. Taxis are metered and plentiful.
