Yozgat is a provincial capital on Turkey's central Anatolian plateau, sitting at roughly 1,300 metres above sea level. The city is the gateway to Turkey's first designated national park — Çamlık Milli Parkı — a fragrant pine and oak forest established in 1958. The surrounding province harbours outstanding archaeological heritage: Hittite and Bronze Age sites at Alacahöyük, the enigmatic Iron Age city of Kerkenes Dağ, and the important excavations at Çadır Höyük. Çamlık Milli Parkı Forest Picnic and Walk
Turkey's first national park has shaded picnic tables in a Scots pine forest at 1,350 m altitude. Safe walking trails from 1–12 km with minimal elevation change — suitable for toddlers. Bring a picnic from the bazaar. Cool even in summer.

Yozgat Museum Discovery Tour

Alacahöyük Sphinx Gate Visit
Life-size stone sphinx statues guard the Hittite gate — children consistently find them impressive. The open-air site has a small on-site museum with original finds. Drive through village scenery on the way; combine with a village lunch at Alacahöyük Köy Lokantası.

Sorgun Termal Children's Pool
Grand Hotel Sorgun has a shallow children's pool (30 cm) fed by warm mineral water alongside the main adult pools. Turkish families bring young children here in summer. Changing facilities and a café on site. Drive 55 km or dolmuş from Yozgat Otogar.

Main Square Evening Promenade
The main square comes alive at sunset with families, ice cream sellers (Dondurmacı Ali), simit carts, and street vendors. Children enjoy the theatrical stretched ice cream (dondurma) performance at Dondurmacı Ali. Safe, pedestrianised, and lively until 22:00 in summer.

Tatlıçay Göleti (Lake Picnic)
A shallow reservoir lake with grass banks for picnicking. Ducks, herons, and occasional kingfishers entertain young children. Informal swimming possible in summer (June–August) in calm, clear water. No facilities — bring food and water. Reach by taxi (60–80 TRY) or rental car.
