Tuvalu is a remote Pacific island nation comprising nine coral atolls, offering one of the world's most authentic and uncrowded travel experiences. With fewer than 2,000 visitors annually, this low-lying archipelago features pristine lagoons, vibrant marine life, and rich Polynesian culture. The capital Funafuti provides access to exceptional snorkeling, traditional fatele dancing, and warm island hospitality.

Day trip tips
Make the most of your excursions.
Book boat charters the evening before — don't leave it to the morning of your trip as reliable captains get booked quickly
Bring absolutely everything to outer islets: food, water (2+ litres per person), sunscreen, snorkeling gear, reef shoes, and a waterproof bag for electronics
The Conservation Area entry fee ($20/adult) is separate from the boat charter cost — bring exact change in AUD
Split boat charter costs with fellow travellers from your guesthouse or hotel — the boat fee is per boat, not per person
Check weather and sea conditions with your hotel before departing — rough seas in wet season can make boat trips dangerous
Tide tables matter for reef walks and islet exploration — ask your hotel for current tide information
