The world's smallest independent state, Vatican City is the spiritual and administrative center of the Roman Catholic Church. This walled enclave within Rome houses some of the world's most iconic art and architecture, including St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, and the Vatican Museums.
Vatican City shares Rome's Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild wet winters. Spring (April-June) and autumn (September-October) offer ideal visiting conditions with temperatures of 18-25°C and manageable crowds. Summer brings intense heat above 35°C and enormous tourist volumes, while winter is pleasantly mild with temperatures rarely dropping below 5°C.
