Siem Reap is Cambodia's cultural heart and gateway to the magnificent Angkor temple complex, one of the world's greatest archaeological wonders. The city blends ancient Khmer heritage with a vibrant modern tourism scene, offering travelers world-class temples, lush countryside, and warm Cambodian hospitality.
Traditional markets
Where locals shop and travellers find treasures.
Old Market (Phsar Chas)
Siem Reap's most famous and atmospheric market, Phsar Chas (meaning 'old market') is a covered market in the heart of the city. The inner sections sell fresh produce, fish, meat, and spices used by local residents. The outer stalls and surrounding streets cater to tourists with silk scarves, wood carvings, stonework, jewelry, Angkor T-shirts, and Cambodian coffee. The aroma and bustle create an authentic sensory experience.
Angkor Night Market
A large and festive evening market occupying a leafy lot between Sivatha Street and the Siem Reap River. Over 200 stalls sell handicrafts, clothing, accessories, Cambodian artwork, and food under decorative lighting. More pleasant atmosphere than Pub Street for shopping. Features an island bar in the middle.
Made in Cambodia Market
A weekly market held at the Hotel de la Paix featuring exclusively Cambodian-made artisan products. Jewelry, clothing, organic products, artworks, and handicrafts from Cambodian designers and social enterprises. Unlike tourist markets, goods here are genuinely handmade and support local artisans. Prices are fair and set.
Siem Reap Night Market
A large tourist-oriented night market running along the Siem Reap River, offering a wide range of souvenir goods at competitive prices. More casual than the Angkor Night Market with a lively street-food section.
Psar Leu (Upper Market)
The main local market used by Siem Reap's residents, Psar Leu is an authentic covered market with minimal tourist presence. Selling fresh produce, household goods, clothing, and electronics at local prices, it offers a real window into everyday Cambodian life. Not primarily a tourist shopping destination but fascinating to explore.
