Day trip tips
Make the most of your excursions.
Start all day trips before 7AM from Brazzaville to make the most of cooler morning temperatures and avoid afternoon heat and potential rain
Carry all supplies — food, water (at least 3 liters per person), first aid, and insect repellent — as stops outside cities have very limited facilities
For Lesio-Louna gorilla tracking, book permits at least 2 weeks in advance through PPG Congo as daily slots are strictly limited
Road conditions outside Brazzaville can deteriorate rapidly in wet season (March-May, October-November) — check conditions with hotel before departing
Hire local guides for sites like Gorges de Diosso and Loufoulakari Falls where unmarked paths benefit significantly from local knowledge
