Les Salines Beach Swimming
Martinique's safest and most beautiful beach — very calm, shallow, clear water with natural shade from sea-grape trees. The best family beach on the island. Vendors sell food and rent chairs.
Aquarium de la Martinique
Fort-de-France's aquarium displays Caribbean marine life including sharks, rays, and reef fish. The touch tank is popular with younger children. Air-conditioned — good for rainy-day visits.
Anse Dufour Sea Turtle Snorkeling
A small cove where green sea turtles feed in the seagrass year-round. Children can watch turtles from the water's edge or shallow snorkeling. No boats or equipment needed for basic viewing.
Habitation Clément Plantation Estate
A beautifully preserved 18th-century rum estate with extensive gardens, a Creole plantation house, and an art collection. Children enjoy the grounds, peacocks, and old machinery displays. The rum tasting is for adults only.
Anse Mitan Beach and Watersports
The most resort-like beach on the island, with calm Caribbean-side water and plentiful watersport rentals (kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats). Easily reached by 10-minute ferry from Fort-de-France waterfront.
Musée de la Pagerie — Joséphine's Birthplace
The restored ruins of the plantation where Empress Joséphine was born in 1763, with a museum of artefacts and portraits. Interesting for older children (10+) who enjoy history and French imperial connections.
Gorges de la Falaise Canyon Swimming
A guided canyon swim through narrow rock gorges and natural pools in a rainforest river. Suitable for children aged 10+ who can swim confidently. One of the island's most unique outdoor experiences.
