Disneyland Paris is a resort in Chessy, in the Seine-et-Marne department east of Paris, about 40 kilometres from the city centre and reached by the RER A line to Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy. It comprises two theme parks, Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park, plus a shopping and dining district, Disney Village, and a number of themed hotels. Disneyland Park is organised into five lands, Main Street U.S.A., Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Discoveryland, with Sleeping Beauty Castle at its centre and rides including Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain and Peter Pan's Flight. Walt Disney Studios Park, themed around cinema and animation, has attractions including the Tower of Terror and Ratatouille, and in recent years has expanded with lands themed on Marvel, Frozen and Star Wars. Parades, fireworks and a night-time castle show take place on most evenings. A full day is the minimum, and two parks need at least two days to cover properly. Crowds are heaviest during school holidays, on weekends and in the summer, with the parks quieter on weekdays in January to March and in November. Visitors typically arrive at opening time, head to the most popular rides first, and use the official app to track wait times and book Premier Access queue-skipping passes. The castle and Main Street U.S.A. make the best photo spots, and the evening show at the castle is worth staying for. Food is available throughout the parks, and visitors can bring their own snacks and water. Visitors staying in the resort hotels may benefit from early-entry hours to the parks on selected days, while those travelling from Paris on a day trip should plan the return RER journey to avoid the crush after the evening fireworks. Seasonal events, including Halloween and Christmas programmes, change the decoration, entertainment and menus, and the parks' character shifts noticeably between them. Lockers, baby-care centres and first-aid posts are available in both parks.
