Nestled between Switzerland and Austria, Liechtenstein is a tiny alpine principality offering spectacular mountain scenery, world-class skiing, medieval castles, and sophisticated cultural attractions. Despite being the world's sixth smallest country, it packs impressive experiences into just 160 square kilometers.
Liechtenstein has a temperate alpine climate influenced by its location between the Rhine Valley (450m) and high alpine peaks (2,500m+). The valley floor around Vaduz enjoys mild conditions moderated by the Foehn wind from the south, which can raise temperatures dramatically in winter and spring. Mountain areas receive significantly more precipitation and cooler temperatures, with Malbun (1,600m) receiving reliable snow from December through March.
