Okryu-gwan
The most famous restaurant in North Korea, founded 1960 on the Taedong River bank, seating 2,000 guests. Renowned throughout the Korean world for its definitive Pyongyang-style naengmyeon (buckwheat cold noodles in chilled beef broth). Kim Jong-il reportedly sent chefs to study here, and branches have opened as far as China and Mongolia. A mandatory culinary landmark.
Koryo Hotel Revolving Restaurant
Atop the 43-story Koryo Hotel towers, this revolving restaurant completes one 360-degree rotation per hour, progressively revealing panoramic Pyongyang views. Chongryu Restaurant
Sister establishment to Okryu-gwan, founded in the 1960s and located in Moranbong District. Famous for its own distinguished version of Pyongyang naengmyeon alongside traditional Korean dishes. Together with Okryu-gwan, has shaped what constitutes authentic Pyongyang cuisine over six decades.
