North Korea Weather & Climate Guide 2026

The weather calendar for North Korea: season by season, with the trade-offs each month brings.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is one of the world's most isolated and controlled destinations. All tourism is tightly regulated through guided tours, offering a unique glimpse into this enigmatic nation with its grand monuments, orchestrated events, and carefully curated experiences.

North Korea has a continental climate with four distinct seasons. Winters are cold and dry with temperatures dropping well below freezing in Pyongyang, while summers are hot and humid with a monsoon rainy season from June to August. Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant conditions for travel with mild temperatures and lower humidity. The northern mountainous regions, including Mount Paektu, experience much harsher conditions year-round.
