Hotel Campomar (Ribadesella)

Hotel Campomar stands on Calle Dionisio Ruisánchez in Ribadesella, a coastal town at the mouth of the Sella River where it meets the Cantabrian Sea, approximately 85 km east of Oviedo. The hotel is within a short walk of the town's main beach (Playa de Ribadesella) and the estuary promenade, and about five minutes on foot from the central square and the harbour fish market. The AS-263 coast road connects Ribadesella to Llanes to the east and to Arriondas — the upstream departure point for the International Sella Descent — to the west.

The building is a mid-century Asturian structure with white rendered exterior and dark iron balconies typical of coastal towns on this stretch of the coast. The hotel has been managed as a family property for several decades, which shapes a service character that is informal and attentive rather than formally corporate. Upper-floor rooms on the sea-facing side offer partial to open views over the Sella estuary mouth and the Atlantic beyond.

Room types include standard doubles on lower floors, triple rooms suited to small families, and a limited number of sea-view rooms on the upper floors. All rooms include en-suite bathrooms and free Wi-Fi. Street parking in the surrounding blocks is generally available, with limited private spaces near the building.

The on-site restaurant is a well-regarded local fixture serving fresh Cantabrian seafood — merluza a la sidra (hake in Asturian cider), fresh anchovies from Ribadesella's own port, and seasonal shellfish — alongside standard Asturian meat dishes. Breakfast is available daily. There is no pool, spa or fitness centre.

The hotel is particularly sought during the International Sella Descent (first Saturday of August), the world's oldest and largest canoe race, when Ribadesella fills with participants and spectators. It also serves as a convenient base for visiting Tito Bustillo Cave, a UNESCO World Heritage Site holding Upper Palaeolithic paintings dating back approximately 22,000 years, located roughly 500 metres from the hotel on the opposite bank of the Sella estuary.
