Murcia is a sun-drenched autonomous community in southeastern Spain, wedged between Andalusia, Valencia, and the Mediterranean coast. Known as the 'Garden of Europe' for its extraordinary agricultural output, the region blends Baroque city architecture, Roman ruins, a vast saltwater lagoon, and some of Spain's most dramatic Holy Week processions.
Murcia has a hot semi-arid climate (BSk/BSh) with Mediterranean coastal influence. Summers are hot and dry (July–August averages 35–40°C inland, 28–30°C coastal). Winters are mild and mostly sunny (December–February averages 12–17°C). Annual rainfall is low at 300–350 mm, mostly occurring in October–November and March. Murcia is one of the sunniest regions in Europe, averaging over 2,800 sunshine hours per year.
