Ordu is a Black Sea city on Turkey's northern coast, famed as the hazelnut capital of the world and celebrated for its lush green hills, ancient history, and stunning coastal scenery.
Ordu sits on the Black Sea coastal highway (D010/E70) linking Samsun to Trabzon. The city has no railway. Air travel is via Ordu-Giresun Airport (OGU), 20 km west, served by Turkish Airlines and Pegasus with multiple daily flights to Istanbul and Ankara. Long-distance coaches are comfortable and the main way to travel between cities on the coast. Within Ordu, dolmus shared minibuses cover most routes for 10-20 TRY ($0.30-0.60).
Transport tips
Travel smarter, not harder.
The Ordu bus terminal (otobus terminali) is on Atatürk Bulvari — all major coach companies depart from here
Book intercity buses 1-2 days in advance via obilet.com for guaranteed seats
Dolmus to Gölköy leaves from the terminal area every hour; ask locally for the correct stand
Rental cars are essential for reaching Ulugöl and Gaga Lake — roads are unpaved in final sections
Petrol stations on the Trabzon highway are plentiful; fill up in the city before highland drives
