Turkey Weather & Climate Guide 2026

When to visit Turkey: real monthly data on temperature, rain, and crowds — not vibes.

Turkey bridges Europe and Asia, offering an extraordinary blend of ancient history, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes. From the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia to the turquoise coast, Byzantine mosaics to Ottoman palaces, Turkey delivers unforgettable experiences for every type of traveler.

Turkey has dramatically varied climate zones due to its size and geography. The Aegean and Mediterranean coasts enjoy classic Mediterranean climate — hot dry summers (35°C+) and mild wet winters. Istanbul and the Marmara region experience humid continental climate with hot summers and cold wet winters. Central Anatolia (Cappadocia, Ankara) has semi-arid continental climate with cold winters that bring snow. The Black Sea coast is unusually wet year-round with lush green landscape. The interior east can be brutal — scorching summers and severe winters with heavy snowfall.
